India's EV Sales Experience Significant Growth in July 2026
India's electric vehicle retail sales surged 66% in July 2026, reaching 3,27,901 units. This significant growth marks a major milestone in the country's transition to electric vehicles, with nearly one in eight vehicles retailed now being electric.
Electric Two-Wheelers Cross the 2-Lakh Mark for the First Time
Electric two-wheeler retail sales crossed the 2-lakh mark for the first time in July 2026, with 204,362 units sold, a growth of 88% Year-on-Year (YoY). TVS Motor led the segment with 55,499 units sold, a 135% YoY increase.
Market Share Growth Observed Across Various Segments
Electric three-wheelers achieved a market share of 65.1%, up from 60.3% a year ago, with 87,055 units sold, a growth of 25.30% over the same period last year. Mahindra Group led the segment with 14,191 units sold, a 45% YoY increase. Electric commercial vehicles market share nearly tripled to a record 3.57%, with 3,556 units sold, a growth of 169% YoY. Tata Motors led the segment with 1,306 units sold, a 288% YoY increase. Passenger EVs achieved a market share of 7.9%, up from 5.1% a year ago, with 32,928 units sold, a growth of 83% YoY. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles led the segment with 13,678 units sold, a 103% YoY increase, while Mahindra had 7,742 units sold, a 126% YoY increase.

The EV transition has stopped being a forecast, it is now a showroom reality, said Sai Giridhar, Vice President, FADA. This sentiment reflects the growing demand and adoption of electric vehicles in India, with the segment expected to continue its upward trajectory.
